Elon Musk Backs US Exit from NATO and UN, Sparking European Alarm

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has reportedly voiced concerns to European leaders about the possibility of the United States pulling out of NATO and the United Nations under President Donald Trump’s administration. Musk’s remarks have sparked renewed debate over America’s role in global alliances and the potential consequences of a reduced U.S. presence on the international stage.

According to sources familiar with the discussions, Musk suggested that European nations should prepare for a scenario in which the U.S. scales back its commitments to NATO and the UN, urging them to take greater responsibility for their own security and diplomatic efforts. His comments align with Trump’s long-standing position that America’s allies should contribute more to defense spending rather than relying heavily on U.S. military and financial support.

European leaders have expressed growing unease over the potential shift, fearing that a U.S. withdrawal from key alliances could weaken collective defense structures and disrupt international diplomacy. While no official plans for withdrawal have been announced, Trump has previously indicated a willingness to reassess U.S. involvement in global institutions.

Musk’s warning has intensified discussions about Europe’s ability to operate independently in security and geopolitical matters. As tensions mount over the future of NATO and the UN, leaders across the continent are considering contingency plans in case Washington decides to step back from its traditional leadership role.
