A press conference held by the family of Karmelo Anthony, the teen charged with the fatal stabbing of fellow student Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas, devolved into chaos after an unexpected appearance by the victim’s father.

Jeff Metcalf, father of the 17-year-old victim, arrived uninvited and was ultimately removed by Dallas police following a tense exchange with the event’s organizers. Emotions flared when Dominique Alexander, the spokesperson for the Anthony family, accused Metcalf of disrupting the event and acting disrespectfully. The confrontation prompted officers to escort Metcalf from the premises under threat of criminal trespass charges.

The press conference was intended to address public concerns surrounding the case and clarify the family’s response to ongoing backlash. Among the topics raised was a legal defense fundraiser for Anthony. Organizers stated that the money collected through a crowdfunding campaign had not yet been spent and emphasized their intent to maintain full transparency.

Karmelo Anthony, who is charged with first-degree murder, was recently released on house arrest after his bond was reduced from $1 million to $250,000. The case has drawn intense attention, with both families facing scrutiny and polarized public reaction.

The incident has reignited broader conversations about school violence, juvenile justice, and the role of media in shaping public opinion during high-profile criminal cases. Both families have requested privacy as legal proceedings continue.
