During a packed Friday night town hall in Queens, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez delivered sharp criticism of the Trump administration’s immigration actions and federal budget priorities while steering clear of confirming any plans for a 2028 presidential run.

Speaking to constituents in Jackson Heights, the congresswoman denounced recent deportation operations, calling them “sanctioned kidnappings,” and urged attendees to be informed of their legal rights during immigration enforcement encounters. She also responded defiantly to recent criticism from border czar Tom Homan, saying, “Come for me,” in direct response to his threats of legal action.

Ocasio-Cortez also pushed back against proposed federal budget cuts targeting healthcare and environmental programs, warning that the reductions would hit working-class communities hardest. Her remarks were met with enthusiastic applause from attendees.

The town hall was momentarily interrupted by a protester who shouted accusations about her stance on the Gaza conflict. Security removed the individual after repeated disruptions.

Though speculation is mounting about her potential entry into the 2028 presidential race—fueled by high-profile appearances and significant fundraising—Ocasio-Cortez reiterated that her current focus remains on delivering for her district and advancing key legislation in Congress.
