President Donald Trump has issued full pardons to reality TV personalities Todd and Julie Chrisley, who had been serving prison sentences for bank fraud and tax evasion.
The Chrisleys, known for their reality series “Chrisley Knows Best,” were convicted in 2022 of defrauding banks out of more than $30 million and failing to pay federal income taxes. Todd was sentenced to 12 years, while Julie received a 7-year term. Both had their sentences reduced due to good behavior before the pardons were granted.
The decision followed a public campaign led by their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, who argued that the case involved misconduct and political bias. President Trump reportedly spoke with the Chrisley children, expressing support and suggesting the couple had been treated unjustly.
The announcement has generated mixed reactions. Supporters view the move as a correction of an excessive punishment, while critics argue it raises concerns about the use of presidential pardons for individuals convicted of high-level financial crimes.
The Chrisleys are now set for release, with speculation already mounting about their return to television.
