A man from Toronto has pleaded guilty to federal charges after a violent outburst at Miami International Airport, where he assaulted two TSA officers in a scene captured by surveillance footage.

The incident took place on December 28, 2024, when the traveler was removed from a Copa Airlines flight due to disruptive behavior. He later reentered the airport and charged through a security checkpoint, where he began punching and shoving TSA personnel. The confrontation left both agents with minor injuries before the man was eventually restrained by airport police.

Federal prosecutors confirmed the man pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting federal officers. Each charge carries a potential sentence of up to one year in prison. In addition to federal penalties, the man is also facing state-level charges that include multiple counts of battery against law enforcement.

His sentencing in federal court is set for May 30, while proceedings on the state charges are scheduled for early June. The case has intensified discussions around airport security protocols and the growing challenges of handling unruly passengers.
