The manhunt for Vance Luther Boelter, accused of targeting two Minnesota lawmakers in a violent rampage, has taken a grim turn. Investigators now allege that Boelter also killed a beloved rescue dog belonging to one of the victims.

Details reveal that the canine, a cherished family pet, was fatally shot during the same early-morning attack that claimed the lives of former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband. The incident reportedly occurred before Boelter moved on to shoot State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife.

Authorities are treating the dog’s death as part of the broader crime scene, noting it may intensify the already significant emotional toll on the victims’ families. The attack vehicle also contained disturbing evidence—authorities recovered a notebook listing around 70 political figures, anti-“No Kings” materials, firearms, and police-style gear.

Boelter remains at large, considered armed and extremely dangerous. A nationwide manhunt involving state and federal agencies is underway, with the FBI offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to his capture.
