A tense encounter played out in Manhattan this week when a member of the New York Attorney General’s security team handcuffed a young woman following a minor collision with his government-issued vehicle. The AG, Letitia James, was not present during the episode.

The incident began after the woman, who allegedly lacked a valid driver’s license, grazed the parked SUV. The security officer—identified as retired NYPD detective Nelson Yu—exited his vehicle, demanded identification, and placed her in handcuffs when she failed to comply. Footage captured the moment, showing her being lifted into the back of the SUV as bystanders looked on.

The driver was briefly detained but later released; her arrest was ultimately voided. The Attorney General’s office has initiated an internal review into the matter but has not issued further statements.
