In response to U.S. precision airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, federal and local authorities have elevated security across cities including New York, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles. Enhanced measures focus on protecting religious, diplomatic, and cultural centers amid fears of possible retaliation.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a national bulletin warning of a “heightened threat environment” and highlighted the risk of cyberattacks by Iran-affiliated hacking groups, potential lone-wolf attacks, and growing hate incidents targeting Jewish and Muslim communities. New York and other large metro areas have increased patrols around transit hubs like airports and train stations to deter any hostile activity.

Officials are monitoring a range of possible threats—including sleeper-cell activation, port security incidents, and digital intrusions. Travelers have received alerts advising vigilance in crowded spaces, with situational awareness measures now in place.
