Riley Gaines, former NCAA swimmer and women’s sports advocate, issued a scathing reaction after Olympic gymnast Simone Biles deactivated her X account following their heated clash over transgender athlete participation.

Gaines described Biles’ move as “sad to see such a phenom go down like this,” accusing the Olympian of erasing evidence after being widely criticized for her social media comments. The confrontation ignited when Biles defended transgender softball player Marissa Rothenberger and labeled Gaines a “sore loser” and “bully.”

Following the backlash, Biles issued a public apology for her personal remarks and reaffirmed her commitment to balancing fairness and inclusion in sports. Despite this, Gaines maintained her stance, labeling Biles’s comments “morally indefensible” and suggesting the account deletion was an attempt to reset the narrative.
