Trump Team Rushing to Enforce Controversial Birthright Citizenship Order

The Department of Justice has confirmed that the administration will start implementing President Trump’s executive order redefining birthright citizenship as soon as this month, pending legal review. The order—which denies automatic citizenship to children born in the U.S. if neither parent is a citizen or lawful permanent resident—remains blocked only by procedural injunctions, not on legal grounds.

Officials say no deportations will occur until the order officially takes effect on July 27, per the standard 30-day pause after the recent Supreme Court ruling restricting nationwide injunctions. Multiple legal challenges are currently underway, with courts examining the merits of the revised citizenship policy and whether it aligns with the Constitution.

The upcoming enforcement timeline sets the stage for renewed judicial battles over both the legalization and deployment of the birthright citizenship policy.
