Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has unveiled the “America Party,” a new political movement launched in response to President Trump’s signing of a record-setting federal spending package. Musk criticized the legislation as an epic example of government waste and political profiteering.
Dubbed a “historic” budget by Trump, the $1.7 trillion “Big Beautiful Bill” included funding for defense, border security, agriculture, and domestic programs. Musk argues that the scale of spending illustrates systemic abuse of taxpayer dollars and underscores the need for a political alternative outside traditional parties.
Musk, who previously held dual French-U.S. citizenship but has since renounced French nationality, voiced his intention to focus the America Party on fiscal conservatism, individual freedom, and ramping up American innovation. He warned the spending bill bodes ill for future competitiveness and national debt.
While the America Party’s structure remains undeclared, Musk has indicated plans to promote its principles via public forums, social media, and potential endorsements of candidates aligning with its ethos. He also challenged politicians to produce transparent budgets aligned with economic growth.
Political analysts note that Musk’s move could disrupt traditional party loyalties by drawing voters disillusioned with both major parties. Still, others question whether a new third party can gain traction in a heavily polarized political system.
With national debt nearing $35 trillion, Musk’s America Party intends to inject fresh debate into the 2026 election, spotlighting federal spending priorities, government accountability, and sustainable economic policy.
