Former actress and Fox commentator Stacey Dash has announced that she’s running for Congress in California.

The outspoken Republican has officially filed the paperwork as of yesterday to run for the 44th district, currently represented by Democrat Nanette Barragán. The FEC filing includes a link to a website with what appears to be a new logo for the campaign. Another FEC form has an electronic signature from Dash declaring her candidacy.

This will surely be an uphill battle for her as it’s long been dominated by Democrats and saw an 83%-12% vote split for Clinton during the 2016 Presidental election.

“A number of people online and off have suggested I run for political office,” she tweeted February 9. “I wanted to see what my online community thinks of this idea as I mull the possibilities. Thoughts?” She attached a graphic of a campaign button, which is red, white and blue and decorated with stars. It reads: “Dash to D.C.”

She started dropping clues a few weeks ago: “A number of people online and off have suggested I run for political office. I wanted to see what my online community thinks of this idea as I mull the possibilities. Thoughts?”

On Feb. 22, she tweeted “Things are taking shape.” The next day, she followed up with: “Soon.”

As we said before, she’s pretty outspoken. The 2016 #OscarsSoWhite “boycott” she called “ludicrous” and even believes that there is no need for a Black History Month.

At the Oscars, Chris Rock brought her out, as a joke?, as the Academy’s new director of “minority outreach program.” “I cannot wait to help my people out. Happy Black History Month,” she giggled. “Thank you.” She quickly exited the stage as silence fell over the audience.

Will you support her when the time comes? Do you think she’ll be an excellent asset to the heavily Democratic 44th district?
