Bryan Kohberger, convicted of murdering four University of Idaho students, has filed a sexual harassment complaint against fellow inmates in the Idaho Maximum Security Institution. Kohberger alleges that other prisoners have directed graphic and threatening language toward him, including explicit sexual threats.
Since arriving at the prison’s J Block—a high-security unit housing notorious inmates—Kohberger claims he has faced constant verbal harassment, prompting him to request a transfer to a different wing for his safety. He described experiencing persistent “minute-by-minute” threats and disruptive behavior such as flooding in the cell block.
Despite being held in a single occupancy cell and under close supervision, Kohberger’s complaints detail repeated incidents where other inmates warned of sexual violence against him. Prison officials have acknowledged hearing vulgar language targeted at Kohberger but have been unable to identify the specific offenders.
Kohberger was sentenced last month to life without parole following a plea deal. The prison is balancing his need for protection with maintaining order among high-risk prisoners. Kohberger has expressed a desire to participate more fully in prison activities, hoping for shared recreation and work assignments as part of his adjustment.
The threats and harassment reflect the challenges Kohberger faces as one of the facility’s most high-profile inmates serving multiple life sentences. Prison authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure his safety and uphold institutional security.
