Top Democratic leaders swiftly responded to the brutal school shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis—where two children were killed and 17 more were injured—by urging immediate action on gun control.

    • Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called the tragedy “horrifying” and stressed that no student or teacher should risk their lives simply by attending class, urging decisive efforts to curb gun violence.
    • House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries declared the attack “horrifying” and added, “Weapons of war have no place in our neighborhoods, streets or schools,” reinforcing the call for policy changes.
    • Representative Shri Thanedar (D–MI) described the event as unacceptable and reiterated that “sensible gun control” is the clear remedy to prevent further losses, warning that inaction will lead to more tragedies.

The devastating assault, which took place during a school Mass, has reignited national debate on firearms legislation, intensifying pressure on Congress to advance comprehensive reform.
