In a devastating turn of events, a New Hampshire mother, identified as Emily Long, has been revealed to have embezzled over $600,000 from her employer before taking the lives of her husband and two young children—and then herself.
Long, who worked as the director of operations at a local chicken wing chain, allegedly began siphoning funds in early 2023. Her actions came to light when ownership discovered irregularities while auditing the company’s finances. The owner filed police reports across multiple locations but was unable to prevent the ensuing tragedy.
On August 18, Long fatally shot her 48-year-old husband and their two children, aged 8 and 6, in their home in Madbury. A third child, a toddler, was fortunately found unharmed. Soon after, Long turned the gun on herself, marking a harrowing end to a deeply troubled situation.
In the wake of the tragedy, the restaurant owner opted not to pursue restitution, saying: “I have no interest in punishing that child for something he didn’t do.” Instead, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to support the surviving child, bringing community members together in an effort to provide care and aid.
