In August, federal officials searched John Bolton’s home in Maryland and his office in Washington, D.C., and they found a variety of electronic devices and documents, according to court documents.
Two cell phones (a black iPhone and a red iPhone with dual camera lenses) and several laptops (a Dell XPS laptop, a Dell Precision tower, and a Dell Inspiron) are among the items seized, along with a Seagate hard drive and two 64 GB USB drives. A white notebook titled “Statements and Reflections to Allied Strikes,” four boxes of printed daily schedules, and written documents kept in folders titled “Trump I–IV” were among the tangible items seized by investigators.
In the midst of a larger investigation into potential infractions of laws controlling the unlawful storage or distribution of secret or national defense materials, the FBI took this action. Investigators are looking for evidence of crime in the confiscated artifacts, even though John Bolton has not been charged.
