Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign funded several luxury hotel stays while touring the country alongside Sen. Bernie Sanders on their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour. Campaign records reveal she spent approximately $3,509 at a high-end Las Vegas spa-hotel and about $3,446 at an upscale resort in Salt Lake City. These expenses were reported shortly after each rally, where the pair criticized economic inequality and corporate influence.

Additional lodging costs were logged in Tucson at a similarly premium property. By contrast, Sanders’s campaign also booked hotel rooms at the same venues but incurred substantially lower charges. His total expenses were spread across venues in Illinois and Vermont.

The spending has sparked debate, given the tour’s populist messaging—many viewed the hotel choices as inconsistent with the movement’s emphasis on modesty and working-class solidarity.
