Tyler Robinson, 22, allegedly admitted responsibility for the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in a private Discord group chat just hours before he was taken into custody. His message, sent Thursday evening, reportedly read: “It was me at UVU yesterday. I’m sorry for all of this.” He followed that with a note saying he would surrender “through a sheriff friend soon.”

The confession was shared with about 30 people in the chat, and screenshots of the message were later provided to investigators. Robinson was arrested that same night after a 33-hour nationwide manhunt. Authorities say a family member also alerted them after Robinson expressed guilt.

Discord has since cooperated with law enforcement by supplying relevant message logs and confirming the confession was made from Robinson’s account.

Despite the online admission, investigators stress that the official motive remains unclear. Authorities continue to analyze Robinson’s digital footprint, communications, and ideological influences to piece together why he carried out the assassination.
