A New Jersey surgeon, identified as Dr. Matthew Jung from Englewood Health, has tendered his resignation following allegations that he celebrated the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in view of hospital staff and patients. The incident reportedly occurred near a nurses’ station at Englewood Health.
Nurse Lexi Kuenzle, who witnessed the doctor’s remarks and questioned how a medical professional could condone such behavior, was initially suspended after reporting the incident. She later filed a lawsuit against the hospital and Dr. Jung, claiming the suspension violated medical ethics and her rights as a nurse.
Englewood Health has since reinstated the nurse and confirmed she will receive full pay for her scheduled shifts. A hospital representative stated that Dr. Jung’s resignation has been accepted, and Kuenzle will continue her duties pending the outcome of ongoing reviews.
The situation has drawn significant attention, highlighting concerns around professional conduct in healthcare settings and the boundaries of free expression among medical professionals.
