A wedding celebration at Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, turned violent when a gunman opened fire, killing one man and injuring several others. Witnesses reported the suspect shouting phrases including “Free Palestine” and “The children are safe” moments before the gunfire erupted, sending guests scrambling for cover.
The victim was identified as 59-year-old Robert Steven DeCesare, who was struck during the attack while attending the reception with his family. Two other people were also wounded and rushed to the hospital, though their injuries were not considered life-threatening. Guests described the scene as chaotic, with some shielding loved ones and others diving beneath tables as shots rang out.
Police quickly detained the suspect, 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau of Nashua, who was arrested at the scene without further incident. Authorities confirmed he faces a charge of second-degree murder, with additional charges likely as the investigation continues. Officials also revealed that Nadeau had previously worked at the country club about a year ago, but no evidence has been found linking him directly to DeCesare or the wedding party.
Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the attack, combing through the suspect’s background and social media activity. Law enforcement has emphasized that while political statements were shouted during the shooting, it remains unclear if ideology or personal grievances were the driving factor.
The incident has shaken the Nashua community and raised concerns about safety at public gatherings. Police have urged anyone with additional information or video evidence to come forward as the case develops.
