Michael LaRosa, who served as press secretary for First Lady Jill Biden, has publicly described the White House’s inner circle as dominated by harsh, bullying behavior, saying the “Biden Bubble was full of bullies.”
LaRosa’s criticism comes in light of Vice President Kamala Harris’s upcoming memoir, where she claims some of Joe Biden’s senior staff undermined her and created tension behind the scenes.
He painted a picture of a staff culture that enforced loyalty through fear, comparing it to cliques that enforce rules more by intimidation than by official policy. Though he praised the Bidens personally as warm and decent, LaRosa says they allowed or tolerated mean-spirited behavior by others.
LaRosa also pointed to Anthony Bernal, Jill Biden’s chief of staff at the time, as having significant influence behind the scenes. He urged Harris to keep speaking out about these dynamics and suggested that acknowledging the problem is a step toward accountability.
