Israeli forces are pushing further into Gaza City in a ground offensive focused on dismantling Hamas’s power there. Key objectives include disabling both above-ground and underground infrastructure used by Hamas, rescuing remaining hostages, and reducing security threats.
Authorities say several Palestinian divisions have escalated operations in Hamas strongholds, prompting the movement of tens of thousands of civilians south to what are designated safer zones. To support displaced residents, relief supplies are staging at the Kerem Shalom crossing, with aid organizations preparing deliveries of tents, medicine, food, and medical equipment.
Meanwhile, damage to hospitals has forced at least two medical facilities to suspend operations due to nearby combat and bombardment. The conflict has raised urgent humanitarian concerns, as infrastructure loses capacity and large populations flee encroaching fighting.
The IDF maintains that it is issuing warnings via leaflets, emergency broadcasts, and text alerts to help civilians vacate combat zones, and has established a humanitarian support area in Khan Yunis. Military leadership insists the campaign will continue until all hostages held by Hamas are returned and the group is no longer able to project violence from Gaza City.
