Former Vice President Kamala Harris revealed in her new memoir that during preparations for her 2024 debate with Donald Trump, she rehearsed responses to “crude hypotheticals” involving abortion and Viagra.
She and her team anticipated personal attacks such as, “Have you ever had an abortion?”—to which she planned to reply, “That’s none of your business.” Another suggested jibe involved asking Trump whether he used Viagra or ever paid for an abortion.
Despite the rehearsals, those personal lines were never used during the debate. Harris said she and her team prepared “debate cards” covering every nuance of each topic, which she committed to internalizing so she could respond fluidly rather than recite scripts.
Her book, 107 Days, outlines the intense preparation process she underwent in anticipation of attacks aimed at both her record and her personal life.
