Investigators claim that Derrick Alling, 39, of Missouri, killed his mother, Carolyn Alling, 65, by beating her to death with a gardening tool. He has been detained and charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
When Carolyn failed to answer calls, her husband asked for a welfare check, and deputies arrived on the evening of September 25. When they arrived, Derrick Alling was uncooperative and provided erratic responses regarding the whereabouts of his mother. When authorities found Carolyn’s body in a guest house on the property, they noticed that she had suffered many fractures to her head from repeated strikes with what looked like a gardening or scraping tool.
According to court records, Derrick allegedly threatened his mother for access to her wealth in the weeks before the murder. According to law officials, the victim allegedly captured some of his violent actions on camera. Derrick Alling is still being held without bond after entering a not guilty plea. He is expected to appear in court again on October 14.
