A conservative influencer and self-described citizen journalist was detained Thursday night by Portland police amid chaotic clashes outside the city’s ICE facility. He and two others were arrested on suspicion of second-degree disorderly conduct as tensions escalated during protests.
The journalist, who has gained notice for covering controversial issues and commentary tied to federal enforcement in Portland, was released on his own recognizance shortly afterward. The local district attorney’s office is reviewing whether to file charges.
Officials said the arrests occurred after officers moved in on portions of the crowd during confrontations. The incident adds fresh attention to Portland’s ongoing dispute over federal immigration actions and escalating public unrest.
