White House Slams Walz as “Imbecilic Buffoon” Over Tariff Criticism

In a dramatic public exchange, the White House launched a scathing response to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz after he criticized President Trump’s tariff policy. Walz had warned that the tariffs were damaging for American farmers by undermining export markets, alleging they were destabilizing previously solid trade relationships.

Reacting sharply, the White House labeled Walz an “imbecilic buffoon,” rejecting his critique as uninformed and accusing him of lacking credibility on economic policy. The statement attacked his leadership record and questioned his grasp of national trade strategy.

The clash reflects growing tension between federal and state leaders over trade. Walz’s office defended his comments, asserting he is merely voicing concerns from his state’s agricultural sectors, which are heavily exposed to international commodity markets.

Observers say the dispute may deepen fractures within the Republican coalition and put spotlight on how different regions are bearing the weight of shifting trade policies.
