In a dramatic turn, Wichita police confirmed Tuesday afternoon that a woman seen in a viral 20-second video being dragged from a home at dawn has safely come forward, ending days of uncertainty and alarm.
The video, recorded around 2 a.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of North Volusia, showed the woman screaming as a man wrapped his arms around her and pulled her away from the property. In the footage, she called out a name repeatedly while resisting as she was led off the frame.
Authorities said the woman, 35, identified herself around 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers responded to her location immediately, took her to City Hall for a victim interview, and confirmed she sustained no major injuries. While the case is being treated as domestic violence, the exact circumstances remain under investigation.
Police believe the man in the video is her boyfriend, though no arrest has yet been announced. Investigators are examining surveillance footage, canvassing the neighborhood, reviewing missing-person reports, and collaborating with regional and federal agencies to assemble evidence.
Wichita officials expressed gratitude to the public for sharing the video and urged continued vigilance, reminding citizens that timely tips and video leads can be critical in locating and protecting victims.
