Senator Mitch McConnell, 83, slipped and fell inside a Senate office building hallway while walking to cast votes on Thursday. He momentarily leaned on an aide before losing his balance, then was swiftly assisted by staff and a Capitol Police officer.
Despite the fall, McConnell quickly regained his footing, waved to onlookers, and proceeded to the Senate floor, where he completed his scheduled votes. His spokesperson confirmed that he was uninjured and continued his duties without interruption.
The incident unfolds amid increased scrutiny of McConnell’s health, following multiple prior stumbles and medical episodes in recent years. His walking gait appeared labored during today’s incident, and aides assisted him afterward as he navigated steps toward the chamber.
