In Marlboro, New Jersey, more than 100 residents filled a school board meeting this week to express outrage after a private chat among board members and candidates that targeted board member Danielle Bellomo was exposed. The chat — compiled under the group title “ThisBitchNeedsToDie” — featured graphic insults and threats directed at Bellomo, who has publicly supported conservative causes.
Participants in the conversation included Vice President of the Board Chad Hyett, Mitesh Gandhi (the spouse of another board member), and former candidate Scott Semaya. The rectoring group chat contained remarks such as, “Bellomo must be cold — her nips could cut glass right now,” among other derogatory and demeaning statements.
Bellomo, a mother of three who supports former President Trump, said the messages have caused her and her family ongoing distress. She revealed that threats from other communications exist and that local police have opened a formal investigation. The situation has already forced Semaya to withdraw from the election race.
During the six-hour meeting, residents questioned whether the school board’s leadership adheres to the district’s stated values. A motion to remove Hyett and Board President Brian Cohen failed to gain enough support, despite multiple calls from the community for stronger action. Superintendent Michael Ballone confirmed that investigations are ongoing but did not provide specific updates.
The controversy is now casting a shadow over the district’s election process and raising concerns about board member conduct, the safety of elected officials, and the broader climate of civility in school governance.
