A white female in her 20s was discovered dead Sunday evening in a green duffel bag abandoned beneath the Metro-North railroad tracks at 125th Street and Park Avenue in East Harlem. The victim’s body, found inside a black garbage bag and then placed in the duffel, displayed no visible signs of trauma. A sanitation worker made the grisly discovery at around 7 p.m., prompting rapid response from NYPD and K-9 units.
Authorities say the neighborhood has long been plagued by drug use and illegal dumping. Local residents are calling for increased patrols and lighting in the area, which they describe as a frequent site of illegal activity. The victim has not yet been publicly identified, and the case remains under investigation by the NYPD and city medical examiners.
