A deliberate explosion rocked the fourth floor of the Goldenson Building on the Harvard University Medical School’s Longwood Campus in Boston in the early hours of Saturday morning. Police confirmed the blast occurred just before 3 a.m., triggered by a fire alarm, and declared it intentional.
Responding officers observed two masked individuals exiting the building rapidly and unsuccessfully attempted to stop them. A subsequent building sweep uncovered no additional explosive devices. No injuries were reported.
The Boston Fire Department’s Arson Unit is investigating the incident alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Harvard University Police Department. The investigation is active and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.
