President Donald Trump has publicly signaled a desire to have the upcoming Washington Commanders stadium in Washington, D.C., bear his name, according to multiple sources.
The planned venue, a $3.7 billion project set to open around 2030, will be built on the former RFK Stadium site and hold approximately 65,000 spectators. Under the agreement, the team will contribute $2.7 billion while the District of Columbia provides roughly $1 billion in infrastructure support and associated development costs.
Trump’s interest in the naming rights follows his support of the stadium deal—with his administration backing the land transfer enabling the development. The White House described the prospect of the stadium carrying the president’s name as “beautiful,” citing his role in facilitating the agreement.
Team officials and the City have yet to confirm any naming decisions. The stadium’s future identity remains pending formal approval from local authorities, team ownership, and the NFL.
