Jonathan Braun, a convicted New York drug trafficker whose sentence was commuted by former President Donald Trump in 2021, has been ordered to serve 27 months in federal prison for violating the conditions of his release through a series of violent and predatory offenses.
The 42-year-old’s new charges include physically assaulting a hospital nurse by swinging an IV pole, sexually groping his family nanny, threatening a synagogue member, assaulting a young child, and repeatedly evading bridge tolls. These offenses took place after Braun’s early release from a ten-year sentence for a massive marijuana importation and loan-sharking operation.
During his court hearing in Brooklyn, Braun expressed regret and acknowledged his victims, citing drug and mental-health struggles behind his conduct. Prosecutors, however, argued the repeated misconduct showed he remained a serious risk to the community and pushed for the maximum sentence available. The judge, while acknowledging his remorse, warned Braun that he must not squander the opportunity to reform.
