FBI Director Kash Patel has formally rejected allegations made by broadcaster Tucker Carlson that the Bureau concealed details relating to Thomas Crooks, the 2024 assassination-attempt suspect targeting President Donald Trump. Carlson claimed the investigation was buried and that important leads were ignored.
Patel countered these assertions, stating the FBI logged more than 1,000 interviews, reviewed nearly half a million digital files and coordinated with multiple agencies. According to the director, the evidence continues to show Crooks acted alone, with no operational backing or external direction.
The exchange has fueled debate over public perceptions of law enforcement transparency during politically charged cases. The FBI maintains it followed standard investigative protocols and asserts no wrongdoing occurred in its handling of the Crooks matter.
