John Fetterman, the U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, has publicly shared a dramatic photograph following a medical emergency that triggered a fall near his home.
According to his office, the incident took place during an early-morning walk near Braddock, Pennsylvania. Fetterman experienced a sudden onset of light-headedness which was later diagnosed as a flare-up of ventricular fibrillation, a serious heart-rhythm disorder. The collapse caused him to strike his face, leading to injuries requiring 20 stitches.
In a social-media post, Fetterman wrote: “20 stitches later and a full recovery, I’m back home with [my] wife and kids … Grateful for [the doctors] who put me back together.” The image he shared included a close-up view of the stitched wound across his forehead and nose.
Medical staff at the hospital in Pittsburgh where he was treated say Fetterman remained under observation and had his medication regimen adjusted as a precaution. His team describes his current condition as “doing well.”
This event adds to Fetterman’s history of health challenges. He suffered a stroke during his 2022 Senate campaign, and was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and cardiomyopathy thereafter. His latest episode underscores the ongoing nature of his cardiac-health monitoring.
