Tatiana Schlossberg, granddaughter of John F. Kennedy, revealed in an essay published on Nov. 22 that she has been diagnosed with a terminal form of acute myeloid leukaemia. The 35-year-old journalist disclosed that her diagnosis followed the birth of her second child in May 2024 and carries a prognosis of approximately one year.
In her deeply personal essay, she described treatment that has included chemotherapy, two stem-cell transplants and participation in a clinical trial, and the emotional toll it has taken on her as a wife and mother of young children.
Schlossberg also used the platform to express concern about current U.S. health-policy decisions, citing funding cuts to vaccine and cancer-research programmes and their potential impact on patients like herself.
She reflected on memory, motherhood and mortality, writing that although she cannot know what lies ahead, she will cling to moments with her family, strive to be present and “keep trying to remember.”
