Prosecutors Slam Mangione’s Bid to Oust Bondi Amid Death Penalty Fight

Federal prosecutors sharply criticized an effort by attorney Albert Mangione to remove former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi from a high-profile death penalty case, calling the motion misleading and without merit.

Mangione’s filing sought to disqualify Bondi, arguing she should not be involved in the federal prosecution. Prosecutors pushed back forcefully, accusing him of twisting facts in an attempt to derail the case and delay proceedings.

In court filings, the prosecution team defended Bondi’s role, underscoring her qualifications and involvement in the matter. They maintained that Mangione’s motion lacked a factual basis and was designed to distract from the legal issues at hand rather than advance a legitimate argument.

The dispute comes as the case moves forward with the death penalty on the table, intensifying scrutiny on legal strategies from both sides. Prosecutors insist the focus should remain on the substantive charges and evidence, while defending the integrity of the ongoing prosecution.
