Newly released footage from Minneapolis shows Renee Nicole Good’s SUV positioned diagonally in the street during a federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation moments before she was fatally shot by an ICE agent.
In the video, Good’s vehicle appears to block traffic and the movement of federal agents for several minutes, with the car remaining stopped in the roadway and the horn sounding as officers approach. Agents are seen slowly moving toward the SUV just before shots are fired, which are not captured in the clip.
Federal authorities have said the agent believed Good was using her vehicle in a threatening manner, while local officials, witnesses, and community members have disputed that account, arguing the footage does not clearly show her attempting to harm anyone.
Good, a 37 year old Minneapolis resident, was killed on January 7 during the ICE enforcement action. Her death has triggered protests and national attention as investigators continue reviewing video and witness statements to determine exactly what happened.
