Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem had a tense on air exchange with CNN’s Jake Tapper over her public statements about the fatal Minneapolis ICE shooting involving Renee Nicole Good.

Tapper challenged Noem for making strong claims early in the investigation, including her assertion that Good used her vehicle as a weapon against federal agents. He pointed out that a full review of the incident had not yet been completed and referenced video footage that appears to leave room for different interpretations of what happened.

Noem defended her comments, saying she relied on information provided by agents and supervisors at the scene. She insisted that federal officers acted in self defense and said it was her responsibility to share what she believed were the facts as they were reported to her.

The interview highlighted deep disagreements over how the shooting should be described and evaluated, as protests continue and multiple investigations remain underway into the events that led to Good’s death.
