A U.S. citizen in Minnesota was temporarily detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents after officers entered his home and removed him outside while he was wearing only underwear during an early-morning operation.
According to the man and his family, federal agents forced entry into the residence while conducting a broader enforcement action in the Twin Cities area. He was escorted outdoors in freezing conditions without being allowed to fully dress, despite telling officers that he was a U.S. citizen and offering to provide identification.
After being held for roughly one to two hours, authorities confirmed his citizenship status and released him without charges. ICE later acknowledged that the individual was not the target of the operation and did not have a criminal record.
The incident has drawn criticism from local officials and community leaders, who raised concerns about the conduct of the raid, the lack of a warrant, and the treatment of a U.S. citizen during the encounter. The man has indicated he is considering legal action related to the detention.
