President Donald Trump stated at the World Economic Forum in Davos that the United States is prepared to increase its engagement with Greenland, highlighting the Arctic territory’s strategic importance.

Speaking to international and business leaders, Trump emphasized Greenland’s value for global security, natural resources, and trade routes, and said the U.S. intends to play a more active role in shaping future cooperation. He framed the approach as part of broader efforts to reinforce American presence in key regions and advance shared interests with allies.

Trump’s remarks came amid ongoing global discussions about Arctic geopolitics and growing competition over influence in the region from major powers. While Greenland remains an autonomous territory under the Kingdom of Denmark, the president reiterated that its location and resources make it a priority for U.S. strategic planning.

European representatives at Davos reiterated that Greenland’s status has not changed and that any partnerships must respect existing political arrangements. Trump’s comments reflect continued U.S. focus on the Arctic as part of national and international security considerations.
