A beloved figure in the regional skating community was shot and killed inside a Starbucks in Missouri, authorities confirmed Friday.
The victim, identified as Gabrielle Sam-Linehan, was at the coffee shop when she was struck by gunfire in what local law enforcement is treating as an active homicide investigation. Responding officers located her inside the store and she was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released a suspect description or identified a motive, but investigators are interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing the area near the incident site for additional evidence. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
Friends, family and members of the skating community have expressed shock at the sudden loss, describing Sam-Linehan as a dedicated coach and mentor whose presence was cherished by students and colleagues alike.
Starbucks staff and nearby businesses cooperated with police at the scene, and the area remained cordoned off for much of the day as detectives conducted their work.
No arrests have been announced, and law enforcement continues to pursue leads as they work to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
