President Donald Trump announced that member nations of the newly formed Board of Peace, an international body he chairs, have pledged more than $5 billion in humanitarian and reconstruction support for Gaza.
Trump said the commitments — aimed at aiding relief efforts and rebuilding the war-torn territory — will be formally unveiled when the Board of Peace holds its first official meeting in Washington, D.C. later this week.
In a social media post, Trump also noted that participating countries have agreed to contribute thousands of personnel to an international stabilization force and local police units to help maintain security and peace for Gazans. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to support post-conflict recovery following years of armed conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The Board of Peace includes members from more than 20 states across the Middle East and beyond, and Trump has characterized the group as a significant international mechanism for advancing peace and reconstruction in Gaza. While the identities of all donor countries have not been publicly detailed, several governments are expected to take part in the upcoming gathering where pledges and personnel contributions will be affirmed.
Officials involved with the effort have framed the funding and stabilization commitments as essential to meeting urgent humanitarian needs and laying groundwork for long-term recovery in the enclave.
The Board of Peace initiative also reflects ongoing debates over international leadership and responsibility for Gaza reconstruction, coming amid continuing regional tensions and the complex challenges of securing a durable peace.
