The state of Kentucky intends to work with affected communities to learn about their experiences and experiences, and then implement measures to combat the opioid crisis.
Former prosecutor and current Kentucky attorney general Daniel Cameron has begun an anti-fentanyl effort.
On Wednesday, as part of the rollout, Cameron met with local law enforcement and other community members in Kenton County to talk about the issue, according to a statement from the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office. On February 28th, there will be another gathering of its like in Pendleton County.
Cameron explained that “Operation Fight Fentanyl” is the state government’s latest initiative to combat the opioid crisis by consulting with residents across the state to learn about the drug’s effects and to discuss solutions.
Over 2,250 people in Kentucky lost their lives to overdoses last year, and fentanyl was found in over 70% of those deaths.
