According to the findings of the Government Accountability Institute, after Joe Biden founded a program at another institution in his name, the school received over $6.7 million in anonymous donations from China, including backing from the Chinese government. According to recent reports, with the creation of the Penn-Biden Center, which housed classified information, the flow of covert Chinese funding into Penn virtually doubled.
On March 13, 2017, less than seven weeks after he completed his second term as vice president, Joe Biden announced the founding of the Biden Institute at the University of Delaware (UD). Biden’s “vision for the institution,” according to the statement, includes “an annual conference at UD, similar to the World Economic Forum or the Aspen Institute.”
At the time of Biden’s statement at UD, many members of the Biden family were discussing multimillion-dollar transactions with foreign corporations that had links to the top levels of Chinese intelligence. It seems that classified material from the Obama-Biden administration was inappropriately stored at the University of Pennsylvania department where Biden currently lectures.
Before hosting the Biden Institute, we are unaware of UD ever accepting funding from China. After the Penn Biden center opened its D.C. branch the next year, anonymous Chinese donations skyrocketed to UD. A kind Chinese donor contributed $3,204,070 in April of this year. In December 2018, we received an additional $1,869.515 in donations from anonymous Chinese donors. There was a third anonymous $624,904 payment from China in December 2019.
Three further contributions totaling $1,005,761 were made to UD from unnamed Chinese state-linked entities in 2020, while Biden was running for president. Most of these donations came in after Biden was officially elected vice president.
Three of these contributions from China totaled $1,005,761 and were documented as coming from a “Foreign Government Source,” according to statistics generated by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) using the information provided by the University of Delaware.
The Penn Biden Center was erroneously branded as “China-funded,” according to one fact-checker since the sudden increase in Chinese donations to UPenn after the center was established was not disclosed. The University of Delaware received three funds from the Chinese government in the years after the establishment of the Biden Institute. Each of these contributions was marked as having originated from a “Foreign Government Source.”
The DOE database returns the query “Is this money from a government?” when an individual of this description is looked up. The University of Delaware has responded favorably to all three of the DOE’s donation requests, as seen by the following screenshots (highlight added for emphasis).
It has been repeatedly requested, but neither the Biden Institute nor the University of Delaware have revealed the names of its Chinese donors or explained why the Chinese government began sponsoring UD after the Biden Institute was already in place.
Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the Biden Institute is its history.
Joe Biden’s son, the Hunter, apparently had the idea for the Biden Institute at UD back while Joe was still vice president.
According to emails found on Hunter Biden’s lost laptop, he and his business partners met with the University of Delaware’s incoming president, Dr. Dennis Assanis, in March 2016 to discuss plans for constructing a “stage” to promote the “Biden brand.” There were other emails on the laptop indicating that Hunter and his business partners were worried about Joe’s “future earnings potential” while he was still vice president.
Emails revealed that a month after meeting with UD’s incoming president, Hunter talked with a talent agent named Craig Gering concerning the future of both the Biden Institute at UD and the Biden Center at UPenn. Hunter Biden may have been employed at the Penn Biden Center, where classified documents were found to have been illegally stored, according to “confidential notes” made by Gering.
Gering has described the possible operation of the Biden academic enterprises as a “Clinton Global Initiative sans the money raising.” Reports from the Clinton Global Initiative’s infancy suggested that the Clinton family foundation leveraged its ties to Hillary Clinton’s State Department to its financial advantage. The Clintons had to gather money from outside sources, which makes one wonder how successful the Biden programs would be “without the money generated.” One possible answer is state sponsorship in China.
According to Gering, the Biden family’s scholastic pursuits would be motivated mostly by a desire to “make money” for themselves. Hunter Biden began footing the bill for his father’s possibly illegal activities when Joe Biden was serving as vice president, and the Biden family ultimately collected almost $31 million through deals tied to the top levels of Chinese intelligence.
It seems that several members of the Biden family were involved in the founding of the Biden Institute.
U.D. has ignored public requests for years to reveal the more than 1,800 boxes containing Biden’s Senate records. In June 2022, a court blasted UD for being too secretive. Whether or whether the University of Delaware’s Biden Institute kept secret documents throughout Biden’s tenure as president is unknown.
Penn Biden Center’s Chinese funding nearly doubled, and they asked the DOJ to halt looking into Chinese espionage at American universities in an open letter (UPenn claimed because of fear of “racial profiling”). Under President Biden, the Justice Department concurred.
Evidence suggests, however, that Chinese espionage at universities like UD calls for increased rather than decreased vigilance.
In a letter to UD President Dennis Assanis dated February 20, 2022, Marco Rubio (R-FL) requested that UD cease all academic and scientific ties with Xiamen University in China. As well as being a strong backer of Beijing’s military-industrial complex, Xiamen University has been accused of working with Huawei to acquire trade secrets from a US-based semiconductor company. Regular communication occurs between UD and Xiamen University.
The Justice Department, the FBI, and a special counsel are under increasing pressure to scour Biden’s records at the University of Delaware for fresh classified data. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre avoided answering a month ago when she was asked if President Biden objected to a review of his records at the UD.
Despite White House protests, investigators may look into whether or not China improperly funded the Biden Institute at the University of Delaware and the Biden Center at the University of Pennsylvania.
