On Tuesday, at Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis in Texas, Air Force officers opened fire on a vehicle that had driven past the main entrance gate. The car was targeted by numerous rounds. The motorist, who has not been recognized, allegedly approached the Air Force guards at a high rate of speed while traveling in the other direction of the flow of traffic, entered the base, and then exited via the gate a second time.

After the incident, security personnel began a chase of the suspect, who tried to flee the facility at a high speed in the inbound lane. In response, security officers employed defensive measures and continued their pursuit. The rounds that were fired by Air Force guards thankfully did not cause any injury to the driver.

After being engaged in a separate incident, the suspect was subsequently apprehended by the San Antonio Police Department about nine miles away from the base. The gates and buildings of Fort Sam Houston were briefly shut down and put on lockdown after gunshots were heard coming from a forested area close by. It is still unknown whether or not these two occurrences are linked to one another. After a few hours, these buildings and gates were opened again.

Both incidents reportedly did not result in any injuries to members of the armed forces, and the inquiry into the matter is still ongoing.
