Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Calls For US Taxpayers to Pay off All Puerto Rican Debt

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says the United States invaded Puerto Rico making it an occupied territory. As usual, she has no facts on her side. Puerto Ricans living on the Island pay about 4.5 billion in income taxes. But they receive 21 billion a year from US taxpayers.

There are no other advantages for us. Also, she wants us to rebuild the island at a cost of 94 billion dollars. Also, she wants us to forgive another 73 billion in debts. Although she hasn’t said so, 53 billion in unfunded pensions. I have a better idea. So let’s grant Puerto Rico their freedom. Cut our losses and run.

“120 years ago today (July 25th, 1898) Puerto Rico was invaded and made a colony of the United States. Puerto Ricans are US citizens. But they STILL don’t have the right to vote federally, nor do have voting rep in Congress (unless they move). Nor are they a sovereign people.”

Puerto Rico was not a free country at the time of the invasion. They were controlled by Spain. After they lost the war, they gave the US Puerto Rico and Guam.

    From Breitbart News

Democratic-socialist and congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday declared her support for a “Marshall Plan,” to rebuild hurricane-wracked Puerto Rico, referring to the U.S. territory as an “invaded,” colony.

“120 years ago today (July 25th, 1898) Puerto Rico was invaded and made a colony of the United States,” began Ocasio-Cortez. “Puerto Ricans are US citizens. But they STILL don’t have the right to vote federally, nor do have voting rep in Congress (unless they move). Nor are they a sovereign people.”

Ocasio-Cortez said she supports a Marshall Plan for Puerto Rico, an aide initiative introduced by far-left lawmakers Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on Wednesday. “I support @SenWarren & @SenSanders‘ Marshall Plan for Puerto Rico,” she said. “We must also talk about the cancellation of PR’s debt, much of which is suspected to be illegal; and the imposition of PROMESA. Puerto Ricans also deserve the right to self-determination.”

Don’t grant them one dime and give them their unconditional freedom yanking their American citizenship. For those who have lived in the United States for a number of years, they should have a choice. They can keep their US citizenship if they renounce their dual citizenship with Puerto Rico. Let’s cut our losses and eliminate an actual welfare state.
