On Wednesday, CNN’s Ana Navarro went all in on election denialism when she claimed that Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ historic reelection victory was the result of “gaming” the voting system.
Navarro debunked the notion that DeSantis was the sole ruler of Florida.
In 2018, Ron DeSantis defeated a black, progressive, and relatively unknown mayor of Tallahassee by a mere 35,000 votes. He had a 20-point victory margin over his opponent just yesterday. Why? He took advantage of the system to his own advantage. The state of Florida is now an unfair playing field, thanks to him. They altered the laws regarding voting to make it more difficult to vote by mail. A large group of African Americans who had been arrested for alleged voter fraud were publicly displayed before the national media.
Navarro admitted that his administration’s swift response to Hurricane Ian was a contributing factor to his victory. And even though voter turnout in Florida was lower than in 2018, she insisted there was no red wave.
Twitter users were quick to point out the hypocrisy in Navarro’s statement, given that she has previously called Republicans “election deniers.”
DeSantis won by over a million votes against Charlie Crist. As for flipping blue districts red, he did that in Democratic strongholds like Miami-Dade and Palm Beach.
