Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gets dumber by the moment. Because of increasing demands to pay workers well above what a job is worth has driven companies to go full automation. In that process, many people lose their jobs.
But AOC says that is a good thing because if you don’t have to work, you have more time for the pursuit of creative passions. But, how do they afford to pursue them if they aren’t working? Well, the left has an answer for that and it comes from Bill Gates. The idea, which AOC says she agrees with would tax robots at 90% and that money can be paid to people with no jobs.
But, would that really work? The left thinks that the rich and corporations will just sit idly by and take the mass redistribution of wealth, but they won’t. What they will do is pack up their companies and then cross the border into Mexico or drive them overseas. Look at what happened in Cincinnati. They built a new baseball and football stadium, with prime land in between them for building stores and restaurants.
But, then the newly elected city council started passing new taxes like crazy and the mall and aquarium that were to be built there backed out and built right across the river in Kentucky. You can drive through the middle of town during rush hour and never get delayed for even a second for traffic. It’s a veritable ghost city.
Ocasio-Cortez speculated fears over automation stem from a lack of financial safety net and economic uncertainty. “We should not be haunted by the specter of being automated out of work,” the self-avowed democrat-socialist said, according to Fast Company. “We should not feel nervous about the tollbooth collector not having to collect tolls. We should be excited by that. But the reason we’re not excited about it is that we live in a society where if you don’t have a job, you are left to die.”
The freshman congresswoman floated a proposal by billionaire and Microsoft founder Bill Gates to tax robots at 90 percent to make up workers’ lost income from automation. “Whether it’s a tax rate, whether it’s distributing wealth that’s created by automation – if we approach solutions to our systems and start entertaining ideas like that, then we should be excited about automation because of what it could potentially mean,” she said.
