There is no doubt about it, Ron White was right, you just can’t fix stupid. All you need to do is listen to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for five minutes to know Ron speaks the truth. Her latest is a real doozy. She says the reason that crime numbers are rising is because people need to steal a loaf of bread to survive. It’s not as stupid as it sounds. It’s actually much more stupid than it sounds.
Even though crime is rapidly increasing in NYC, with murders up by 27.1% and shootings up by 53.5%, petty larceny, which is the theft of something valued at less than $1,000. Therefore, stealing bread has not become an epidemic because petty larceny is down by 7.5%. Maybe that’s because with so many looters hitting New York’s high end stores, they can afford to buy their own.

According to the NYPD crime data, petit larceny, stealing of personal property that has a value less than $1,000, was down 7.5% compared to last year. However, murder was up 27.1% and shooting incidents were up 53.5%.
Ocasio-Cortez also speculated that the skyrocketing crime could be caused because “unemployment provisions have not been given to everyone.” She also suggested that the crime may have increased because “some people still have not been given their stimulus check yet.”
